What is Healthy Smiles Ontario?

We are proud to be participating in Healthy Smiles Ontario, a programme that ensures youth are receiving the dental care they need to create a solid foundation for their oral health.

Healthy Smiles Ontario is a dental programme for children and youth 17 and under.

  • The programme is available to residents of Ontario and who’s household income meets the Healthy Smiles Ontario requirements.
  • Your child is automatically eligible if your household receives one of the following: Ontario Works, Temporary Care Assistance, the Ontario Disability Support Program or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities

How long is Healthy Smiles Ontario valid?
Once your child has been enrolled in the programme they are eligible for a year (see specifics below). In most cases your child will be automatically re-assessed each benefit year.

The one year of benefits is shaped as follows:
Up to one benefit year (August 1st to July 31st), or 12 months from the date of enrolment for those enrolled for emergency and essential care, or
Up to their 18th birthday

What is covered by Healthy Smiles Ontario?
Healthy Smiles Ontario covers routine dental check-ups, preventive dentistry, x-rays, and emergency dental. Cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening and dental implants are not covered. For more details on what is specifically covered please go to the Services Ontario Website.

How to apply for Healthy Smiles Ontario:
Once your child has been deemed eligible for Healthy Smiles Ontario they will receive a card that must be brought to every dental appointment.
